Global offers unique tapeless workflow solution
01-Jul-2009On any given television project, the volume of footage and speed at which it needs to be turned around progressively increase.
Accordingly, the ability to capture footage on disc, rather than tape, is a boon to production.
Global Television identified the need for this technology and has pioneered the use of tapeless workflows in Australia.
We were the first to introduce the technology to local production, deploying tapeless workflow at the live Brownlow Medal Count (AFL) telecast in 2006.
A year later, Global became the first television facilities provider in the world to install a totally tapeless HD workflow for a major drama serial.
Since 2007, Global has provided V8 Supercars television with a completely tapeless solution for both outside broadcast and post production.
Fox Sports also uses our tapeless system for all major Australian productions, with content captured on location transferred from hard disc directly to their studio facility.
Most recently, Global facilitated two projects where the shared hard disc storage and post production facility were located kilometres away from the record location, with fibre connections providing virtually instant access to material.
Our list of tapeless projects grows daily with local and international productions in SD and in HD, both small and large scale. Series to take advantage of the technology include Neighbours, My Kitchen Rules and Iron Chef.
Global continues to work with broadcast equipment supplier EVS to make tapeless work processes even more efficient.
